Pre-school library in kindergarten: action research

This thesis is based on the need to lead children to read at an early age. International research (PIRLS, PISA) shows, that the children's library in kindergarten has an inherently positive impact on the development of reading literacy. The aim of this thesis is to map the equipment of the children's library in the Elíšek kindergarten and to find out for what activities children use the books for. How teachers use them in their work and, also to map the children's home backround and if parents leads children read in their families. The aim of the action research is to improve the work with the book in the kindergarten, to involve in directional activities and build a new reading corner with selected books for children, various secondary activities and equipment. Transformation of literary heroes from preschool children point of view

The submitted diploma thesis with title Trasformation of literary heroes from preschool children poin of view is devoted to the reading situation in families and mainly examines the transformations of popular literary hereos of preschool children. The diploma thesis is divided into two main sections - the theoretical part and the practical part. The theoretical part deals with the preschool child and his development in variol components. The central chapter is reading líteracy and pre-literacy. There are also chapters on factours influencing reading and working with a book in kindergarten. The theoretical part concludes with the chapter Literary hero. The aim of the practical part was to find out who is the most popular literary hero in today's preschool children. The research survey consists of two parts - quantitative (questionnaire) and qualitative (interview with families) research. The following is an analysis of anonymous questionnaires. The results are processed in graphs with appropriate comentary. Furthermore we find analyzed interview with families containing questions about reading situation, the popularity of children's books and identifying with heroes from children's stories. Language Resources in Fictional Diaries as a Genre of Literature for Children and Youth

The diploma thesis deals with analysis of linguistic meanings, content and graphic processing of fictional diaries for children and youth. The subject of the diploma thesis is the research expession means of selected titles from the point of view the sex of the fictitious writers of diaries and of the existence of characters in a given type of fictitious world. This is also related to find out what effect these means have on the apparent authenticity of the diaries. The theoretical part offers an overview of the overall development of literature for children and youth from the beginning to the present. The terms of the genre and diary are clarified in this part. The overview of contemporary genres and currently published titles are mentioned as well as their popularity at these days.
Early Stages and Further Development of Czech Translation of Children's Literature from English

The dissertation deals with various aspects of the translation of children's literature from English into Czech, focusing on its earliest stages. The methodology of the research is based on the polysystem theory. It indicates - in agreement with the hypotheses of the theory - that the polysystem of Czech children's literature developed under a strong influence of translation. In the earliest stages, original English texts played a marginal role; they were mostly translated into Czech indirectly via German mediating texts. With the commencement of direct translation at the turn of the 19th and the 20th centuries, the influence of literary models of English origin became stronger; they enriched Czech children's literature by specific thematic genres, as well as new stimuli of the new conception of imaginative children's literature, which replaced older didactically oriented texts rooted in the tradition of philanthropism. The dissertation also examines bibliographic issues of the analyzed subsystem. It illustrates by examples how the customary enumerative bibliography can be extended to the sphere of textology and yield new findings concerning translated texts (e.g. the identification of the mediating text or the correct form of the translation).
